Poor Preparation Gives Poor Results – GOC President
The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee , Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah has lamented on the unserious approach of the country towards sports development in this country especially the lesser known sports.
Speaking after the abysmal performance of team Ghana , GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah emphasized that the Government failed to invest in the athletes to reach their full potentials equal to the world class athletes and for that matter no better results was expected from them .
GOC President further explained that poor preparation gives poor results and the athletes were not to prepare for only four months and compete with those who have prepared for four years . The GOC President highlighted the need for a comprehensive review of the country’s sports programs, emphasizing that athletes must be given the necessary tools and environment to excel on the world stage.
Earlier in the Olympics, Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey was eliminated finishing seventh in the Men’s 100m Freestyle , In 100m, Benjamin Azamati and Abdul Rasheed Saminu gave a good account of themselves by reaching the semi-finals but their efforts weren’t good enough to secure their places in the final . High jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah exited after being unsuccessful in her 1.92m attempt.
