John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to revitalize Ghana’s railway sector if elected, claiming that the once-thriving system has been undermined under the current NPP government.
Speaking at a community engagement in Asamankese, within the Lower West Akim constituency, as part of his Eastern Regional tour, Mr. Mahama highlighted that during the NDC’s previous administration, the railway sector was operational and playing a key role in transportation.
However, he pointed out that under the NPP, railway lines are being dismantled by what he described as suspected NPP affiliates, jeopardizing the sector’s future.
“The railway system was working under the NDC, but today, under the NPP, railway lines are being removed. This is damaging to the country’s development,” Mr. Mahama said.
“The NPP’s neglect of vital sectors, including transportation, is a threat to our national progress. We must vote them out to save our country.”
John Mahama also discussed the NDC’s 24-Hour Economy Policy, which he believes is the key to tackling youth unemployment.
He explained that the policy will create job opportunities by boosting various sectors of the economy, enabling businesses to operate around the clock and generating more employment for young people.
He reassured the crowd that a new NDC government would prioritize the country’s development by addressing critical sectors and creating a conducive environment for economic growth.
“When elected, the NDC will work tirelessly to build a stronger, more prosperous Ghana,” Mr. Mahama promised.
“We will make sure that every sector is functioning optimally to benefit all Ghanaians.”
In closing, John Mahama urged Ghanaians to support the NDC in the upcoming elections for the betterment of the country, stressing that the NPP’s current leadership is failing to meet the needs of the people.
