John Dramani Mahama has questioned the NPP’s claims of constructing 12,000 kilometers of road during their time in office, expressing disbelief at the poor state of many roads across Ghana despite this claim.
Speaking to residents of Adeiso in the Upper West Akim constituency as part of his Eastern Region tour, John Mahama stated that he finds it hard to believe that such an extensive amount of roadwork has actually been done.
He pledged that a new NDC administration would prioritize fixing Ghana’s deteriorating roads, especially in areas like Adeiso that have long been neglected.
“All bad roads will be fixed under a new NDC administration. Where is the 12,000 kilometers of road the NPP claims to have built? Perhaps only Kyebi has benefited from their so-called ‘year of roads,'” Mahama remarked.
John Mahama also expressed confidence that the NDC would win the upcoming election and make history by electing Ghana’s first female vice president, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
He highlighted that her presence would ensure women’s and children’s issues receive attention at the cabinet level, saying, “NDC will make history with Ghana’s first female Vice President. Women’s issues will be central to our cabinet discussions because Prof. Jane will bring them forward.”
He noted that if the NDC wins, Professor Opoku-Agyemang would serve as acting President whenever he is out of the country, which he believes would inspire young girls across Ghana.
“When I am away, Prof. Jane will act as President. Her leadership qualities will motivate young girls nationwide,” Mr. Mahama added.
John Mahama concluded by urging Ghanaians not to “make the mistake” of reelecting the NPP, promising that the NDC would prioritize job creation and national development if elected.
