Ghanaian Afro-fusion musician Michael Delanyo Ocloo, known as Songzkid, has emphasized the need for Ghana’s Musicians’ Union (MUSIGA) and Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO to establish mechanisms for music streaming to support upcoming artists.
During an interview with Obaapa Janee on Ahotor Fm, he highlighted the challenges faced by young musicians and the potential benefits of streaming platforms.
He talked about the need for a national streaming platform that would cater specifically to Ghanaian artists, allowing them to retain more of their earnings and reach a broader audience.
He also emphasized the importance of negotiating better rates with international streaming services and educating musicians on how to maximize their earnings from digital platform.
He suggested that MUSIGA and GHAMRO should focus on creating a national streaming platform for Ghanaian artists, negotiating better rates with international streaming services, and providing workshops to educate musicians on the digital music business.
Songzkid had articulated what many young musicians in Ghana had been feeling for a long time.
