George Kwasi Afriyie, in a recent interview after filing for his nomination, made a public statement emphasizing the importance of transparency in football.
He stated that those who invest their resources in running football should be educated about the truth in the upcoming days.
“In the coming days we will be educating our brothers, the people who spend their money from their pocket, the people who waste their time to run football, we will be telling them every single truth.
George specifically mentioned Kurt Okraku, the current president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and claimed that it appears as though Kurt is only creating wealth for his club, Dreams FC, rather than benefiting all teams.
He further questioned the fairness of the situation, asking if three members of Kurt’s technical team received a significant appearance fee for participating in the World Cup. How much would other local teams like Hearts of Oak, Kotoko, and Medeama receive in comparison he wondered.
George emphasized the need to reveal the truth and also cautioned the public to open their eyes as he believed that only a select few are benefiting from the wealth being generated in football.
“Open your eyes, the wealth is not being created for all, the wealth is being created for a few, friends and cronies” he warned.
