Asante Kotoko has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of their former player and coach, Michael Osei, who died in London on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 53.
In an official statement, the club are with his family and colleagues. Rest in peace, Michael,” the club wrote.
Osei was celebrated as one of Ghana’s finest midfielders, beginning his career at Okwawu United before joining Asante Kotoko in the early 1990’s.
His impressive performances secured him a move to Germany, where he played for Bundesliga sides Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05.
As a coach, Osei managed several Ghanaian clubs, including New Edubiase United, Liberty Professionals, and Bibiani Goldstars.
He also served as an assistant coach for Ghana’s U23 team, the Black Meteors, for five years.
