Mauritania have sacked head coach Corentin Da Silva Martins following their 0-0 draw with Tunisia in the FIFA WorldCup qualifiers on sunday.
Al-Murabitun are hoping to qualify to the World Cup for the first time but are last in their group with 1 point from four games.
Mauritania had already qualified for the AFCON in Cameroon in January and were hoping to be in Qatar as well but things have become very difficult as Tunisia leads group B.
The 52 year old have been in charge of the Mourabitounes since 2014 and qualified them to the 2019 AFCON
Martins started his managerial career in 2006 with lowly Quimper Cornouaille FC. In the following year he was named Brest’s director of football, but had a brief spell as interim coach at the beginning of the 2008–09 campaign.
He subsequently stayed on as an assistant coach for the Ligue 2 team
