Patrice Baumelle names 30 Elephants For Mozambique And Cameroon Clash


French tactician Patrice Baumelle has released a list of 30 players for the Qatar World Cup matches against Mozambique and Cameroon in September.

The Ivorians have not made any major impact at the international stage since they lifted their second AFCON in 2015 and will hope to be present in Qatar come November next year.

Either Cameroon or Ivory Coast will miss out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after the teams were drawn against each other in the second round of African qualifying.

Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions have represented Africa at a record seven World Cups, while Ivory Coast have made three appearances.

Of 19 games played since 1970, the Elephants have the edge over the Indomitable Lions with 9 wins, 2 draws and 8 defeats.These two have a little bit of a history between them. On October 8 2005,Pierre Wome missed a stoppage time penalty, costing Cameroon what would have been a record sixth World Cup finals appearance and enabling Ivory Coast to go through on a day of shocks in the African qualifying matches.

43 year old Patrice Baumelle worked as assistant under Herve Renard for a period of six years and bagged two Africa Cup Of Nations as assistant manager, during his time with Renard. Baumelle will be hoping to write his own history when the Cote D’Ivoire start their Qatar 2022 qualifying campaign.
