Reacting to the President’s decision to compel the Auditor General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo to proceed on a compulsory leave, Ivan Kyei Innocent, a communication team member of the NDC has questioned the president’s decision in what he described as massive crackdown on independent state institutions serving as the foundations of democracy in Ghana.
He added that it’s not right to ask the AG to go on leave when the president himself sits on leave. He added everyone including the president is subject to the dictates and the prescriptions of laws governing Ghana and cannot act contrary or play naive.
“now Domelevo is the only person fighting corruption in this country and you can’t just ask such daring committed character to drop his duties and go sit at home for what?” he asked.
He indicated that President Nana Addo is never interested in the fight against corruption and it’s the reason he ( The President ) sees Mr. Domelevo as a threat to his plans to amass wealth even at age 76 years.
Speaking to Alaska De Don on Ahotorfm evening political show, Wednesday, Ivan compared the style of leadership under Nana Addo to someone running a village supermarket, according to him, the President is using the might of the state to fight institutions instead of strengthening them.
“Nana Addo and his people are running Ghana like a village supermarket, the owner decides who to sell to and what what time to open ” .
