The Member of Parliament for Upper west Akyem in the Eastern Region, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Derek Ohene Bekoe has dared the acting National Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay to procure the 275 buses for each of the 275 constituencies in view of his bid to secure the Chairmanship slot of the Party during the impending national delegates conference slated to be held in July 2018.
The New Patriotic Party will meet to elect national scribes to steer the affairs of the Party ahead of elections 2020.
The acting national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has come under heavy criticisms after he made a public statement to the effect that, he will furnished each of the 275 constituencies nationwide with buses for commercial purposes to enhanced economic profitability by loyalists in the NPP.
But speaking on the Ahotor FM’s morning show on Tuesday dated 15/5/2018”, the NDC lawmaker for Upper West Akyem constituency, categorically stated that, he is daring Mr. Baly to honor his promise to procure those intended buses for each of the 275 constituencies in the country.
He queried and took a swipe at the leadership of the New Patriotic Party for openly displaying affluence and ostentatious posturing barely after some 15 months in government.
He bemoaned and chided Freddie Blay over reasons why he could not initiate such move whiles in opposition.
The MP further avowed and called on various anti- graft bodies in the country to take keen interest in the raging matter since the intended act by the acting national Chairman smacks of corruption and blatant abuse of state resources.
He asserted again that, Ghanaians have witnessed the core inner most characteristics of the NPP government different from the traits they exhibited in opposition.
He also reminisced the 2016 general elections where the NPP campaigned with virtually scanty vehicles with low fuel consumption but has suddenly assumed profligate means overnight, and could afford to purchase such a huge number of fleets of buses of such magnitude.
Furthermore, he opined that it is imperative for any government of the day, to be scrutinized in the most probing means in regards to achieve Public accountability to the ordinary Ghanaian.
He similarly contended that, the Akufo-Addo government has crippled the economy through the introduction of harsh economic policies which have become an albatross on the citizenry.
In a sobbing manner he emphatically posited that, the government is bamboozling the unemployed Professionals and graduate with the introduction of the “Nation Builders Corps” Policy, which had been rolled out by President Akufo-Addo months ago in Kumasi.
He aver the Akufo-Addo administration has reneged on all promises they made to Ghanaians in opposition, especially with allocations to the District Assemblies Common Funds which no longer functions as it used be during the NDC regime, and said the allocation is so scanty making it very difficult for the various assemblies to initiates their proposed developmental agenda.
He hinted that, he is unfazed and unperturbed with the amounts of spins that dissenters would arrived at, and concur he will persist in his quest to enlighten the good people of Ghana about the vile activities and machinations by the New Patriotic Party’s government.
The NDC lawmaker chronicled an avalanche of programs and activities which have been brought to a halt or abrogated due to serialized ineptitudes by the Akufo-Addo’s administration.
Hon. Derek Ohene Bekoe is amongst the most versatile and hardworking members of Parliament within the NDC’s fold who is admired by the various Political divide in the upper west Akyem Constituency of the eastern region, who has also undertaken a lot of developmental projects to his credit of the upper west Akyem constituency
