The communication Manager of the Ghana Water company Limited, Mr. Stanley Martey has hinted of water shortage in the coming months.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s morning show with, Onantefour Addae Mununkum, the communication director made it clear that most of the water bodies that serve as source for treated water for the company are running dry.
“The Pra River has receded; this river serves as a major water source for those in Takoradi and its surrounding towns. This had led to the company looking at other sources. The galamsey act is also affecting the water supply as well”
“Looking at the northern part of Ghana, specifically Yedi and Navrongo where the white and black Volta serves as a source of water for the part of Ghana are running dry. This has led to water shorted in most part of the northern, upper east and upper west regions”
“The Tano River keeps on receding with time which is a worrying development”. He stated
The Communication Director advised the public to utilize treated water well to reduce shortage.
He also stated that this development has come to the notice of the board of directors of the company and are taking necessary steps to normalize situation.
