Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South constituency Hon Samuel Attah Akyea has shared his view on what he is expecting to be changed in parliament.
According to him, clerks in parliament must have deeper knowledge and understanding of the works committees do in parliament.
He indicated that, clerks are more like consultants when it comes to what they do in parliament hence, parliament needs people who are deep to qualify as clerks.
“The clerk of a committee should be more knowledgeable than the chairmen and point out certain areas of concern” he added.
According to Hon Attah Akyea, parliament will be shortchanged if the clerks are just round to do normal writing and stuffs.
Speaking to the media on parliamentary work, the Chairman of mines and energy committee said he has been complaining about how some of the clerks try to treat the committee because he is of the view that, it should have professionalism which entails acting in good term and also letting everybody understands that you are not hear to occupy a desk.
He called on some of the parliamentary clerks to give inputs for the betterment of the work they do.
