The Kpong Katamanso Assembly said they are faced with financial resources which has deprived them of responding to the crisis of residents whose homes were flooded during last Friday’s heavy downpour.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Samuel Okoh Amankwah revealed that the Assembly had funding challenges meanwhile though; it has been mandated to collect property rates to a significant source of income for operations has been taken over by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) rendering the inability to respond to crucial services including emergencies.
Meanwhile, last Friday’s downpour forced affected people to spend the night with families and friends in hotels.
Residents blamed the incident on an abandoned covert in the area.
The affected residents believe the Assembly should provide them with some relief items but the MCE says they are unable to do so because of funding challenges.
