Ghanaian musician, Sister Afia has disclosed the reasons why the female industry is not growing like the male counterparts
According to her, women meet a mass of challenges both within their careers and in the corporate environment.
She painted the unfortunate affinity for some women to engage in indirect criticisms and gossip when another woman starts to shine, which has unfortunately become somewhat normalized in the country on her Twitter account.
“In our industry the “female sector” when a woman is rising above other women other women starts talking lil behind their backs which is a “norm” in our country which shouldn’t be. A rise of a woman should be a win to all. Our mentality is sickening!” she wrote.
“It’s not always who this one is sleeping with or who this one’s sponsor is. this girl this girl that. It’s killing us. Too much talk and the politics no Dey hia.”
Sista Afia also pointed out that the rampant objectification and falsification of women as sheer “sex symbols” suggestively hinder their progress, even if they’re putting in important effort and dedication.
