EDUCATIONISTS CAST DOUBT ON BAWUMIA ONE STUDENT ONE LAPTOP

An educationist, Norbert Gborgbortsi has expressed skepticism about the one student one laptop policy.

According to him, the government’s failure in implementing the one teacher one laptop policy has created doubts about future laptops related policies.

Speaking on Ahotor Fm‘s Simpieso with the host Emmanuel Martey, he said the commitment of the government to honor its decision of meeting the provision of the laptop is a challenge.

“The free SHE is good but looking at how it is implemented is bad. It is not piloted and there is no document backing the policy and so it can not be called policy. If you have a policy and the policy will take you to IMF, then you should know the policy is valueless” he said.

The government through the Ministry of Education is preparing to replace textbooks with laptops in Senior High Schools across the country.

Speaking at the 60th Anniversary celebrations of the Hohoe Evangelical Presbyterian Senior High School, Dr. Bawumia announced that textbooks and other learning materials would be installed on the laptops to be used during lessons on May 27, 2023.

Dr. Bawumia said the Initiatives which would be implemented before the end of 2023.
