His Excellency Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has voiced out his utmost satisfaction to Hasaacas ladies for their heroics in the West african Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Women’s championship.
Hasaacas Ladies last week visited the Office of the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, to show him the trophy they won at Women’s Champions league in Abidjan.
The Takoradi based club received financial support from the Vice President before they travelled for the tournament and therefore decided to show appreciation by presenting the trophy to him after a job well done.
During the visit, Dr Bawumia expressed his joy of their triumph and congratulated them for such achievement.
”Before Hassacas ladies left for the competition, I sent my best wishes to the entire team and the wishes of his Excellency the president of the Republic Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo and urged you to raise the Flag of Ghana high and bring the trophy home.”
”You have indeed brought the trophy home and on behalf of the president Nana Addo and the government I congratulate you for your outstanding achievement .You have recorded your name in the history books by becoming the first team to win this maiden competition by the confederation of African football.”
”Now we look forward to replicating this performance at the next tournament in Egypt ,I would like to let you know that in me you have someone who will champion not only the course of Hasaacas Ladies but women football in Ghana so you can expect me at some of your matches.”
The Vice President reiterated the government’s continuous support to Women football in the country and gave them a cheque of fifty thousand cedis as congratulatory bonus to the team.
”As a government we are really committed to supporting our women in sports to realise their potentials both on and off the pitch. I spoke to the president and in recognition of this major honour you have done for Ghana, I am on his behalf giving you GHC50,000 and wish you all the best”.
