Olympiakos Nicosia midfielder Kingsley Sarfo has revealed he received no support from the Ghana Football Association during his traumatic time in Sweden three years ago.
The 26-year-old was sentenced to two in prison after a wrongful incarceration back in 2018 while playing for top-flight side Sirius.
However, Sarfo was handed a second chance by Olympiakos Nicosia after his released from prison in 2019 after spending close to two years behind bars over rape charges.
Sarfo, who has been capped once by Ghana, has revealed he received no form of support from the Ghana Football Association.
“I didn’t hear from anybody from the GFA. I only got support from friends and close associates. Indeed, it was only Chibsah (Yusif) who got in touch with me and offered me support,” he told Kumasi-based Pure FM.
“I owed a lot of gratitude to my Swedish family especially the Strand family who have been with me from day one.
“To my agent and close friends and relatives who stood with me in my difficult moments. I also received support from the Ghana embassy in Denmark and Sweden.
The Ghanaian shone in his first year at the club leading it to a top 6 finish and cup final after 30 years.
His contract was improved and extended until 2023 and has been handed the captain’s armband
