Prof. Ken Attafuah engaging in criminal activity- Chairman Ofosu Ampofo

ACCRA : The National Chairman of the opposition NDC has accused the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) of deliberately engaging in criminal activities. According to Chairman Ofosu Ampofo, he’s surprised that someone who is a Professor in Criminology would resort to engaging in criminal acts by attempting to use his outfit to do the bidding of the ruling government through the NIA’s nationwide registration exercise. According to him, Prof Attafuah’s NIA is scheming with the EC and the government to leave a section of Ghanaians out out of the exercise for political expediency. He made these known on Ahotor fm’s morning show hosted by Kofi Citizen.

“Prof Attafuah, he a professor in criminology ..becuase to deliberately deprive people…..”

Chairman Ofosu Ampofo questioned the motive behind the supply of additional registration materials when the team got to the Ashanti region but could not do same to expedite the process in the Upper East and West regions. He also cited what happened in the Eastern Region as another example in what he described as a grand scheme to help the Npp’s agenda of maintaining power despite numerous hardships this administration has brought unto Ghanaians… The NIA registration was ongoing at the time the president had called for a ban on all public gatherings, the NIA authorities defiled the authority and went ahead with registeration and eventually turned the Easten Easten Region into an epicenter of Coronavirus.

The NDC within the week held a press conference and accused the NIA and the EC of conspiring with the Akuffo Addo’s led government to disenfrench voters in the strong holds of the NDC and provided an extensive data to back the party’s claims but the electoral commission has come out to refute those claims.
This comes at the back of the commission’s insistence on compiling a new voter register despite the looming COVID19 crises and oppositions various civil society organisations have expressed citing numerous reasonable grounds to justify the credibility of the current electoral register and the need to protect the public purse.
