Teacher funds practicals for SHS Visual Arts students.
A visual arts teacher at Nkwanta Community Senior High Technical School and CEO of NKG Textiles, Michael Nkpah, has been training visual arts and home economics students at Yabram Community Senior High Technical School in Dambai, Krachi East Municipality, Oti Region.
He has been doing this for five years to provide practical experience in arts, filling the gap left by the government’s lack of materials for practicals in schools.
Despite his wish to conduct these sessions every three months, financial constraints limit him to annual sessions funded by his modest salary and business earnings. Nkpah calls on individuals, organizations, and all well-meaning Ghanaians to support expanding this initiative to more senior high schools nationwide.
Meanwhile, the headmaster of Yabram community senior high technical school, Gustav Kudzo Brempong was grateful for training his students at the expense of his own pocket.
He therefore called on parents to support their wards who are interested in arts because, the Arts gives self- employment and not depend on government for employment.
According to him, the government saw the need for technical and vocational training hence its interest in investing in TVET education.
