A lecturer at the School of Sciences at the University of Ghana, Professor Richard Banny has asked government to invest in post- harvest infrastructure to save food losses.
According to him Ghana produces enough food but face losses due to lack of proper storage facilities for surplus produce.
Professor Richard Banny was speaking at a climate resilience workshop on the theme: Storytelling as a tool for Climate Justice and Food Security.
The workshop organised by the Youth Climate Council Ghana which brought together community leaders, journalists, groups from the climate eco systems and student offered opportunity for participants to gain valuable skills and knowledge on harnessing the power of storytelling to advocate for climate justice and promote food security.
Prof. Banny taking participants through food security presentation urged government to allocate funds in procuring storage equipment or better still invest more resources in post- harvest handlings for a better management of farm produce.
The Capacity Building and Education Officer for the Youth Climate Council Ghana, Ernest Ofori said the workshop is to build the capacity of participants to educate people in climate prone areas to prepare for or to adapt to the impact of climate change.
