Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) have backed calls by the Peasant Farmers Association for the involvement of more women in phase two of the Planting for Food and Jobs program.
The Peasant Farmers Association is calling on the government to give women in agriculture access to loans in phase two of its flagship program Planting for Food and Jobs a call backed by the Presidential Candidate.
Speaking with Ahma Baidoo on Ahotor 92.3 FM‘s News ‘AhotorKasiebo‘, Madam Akua Donkor said: “I gave my life to agriculture at the age of 30 and it changed my life, now I want to be President rocking shoulders with the likes of Mahama and Akufo-Addo, Agriculture made it possible”.
She is of the view that women need to be given attention as their male colleagues in the agriculture sector.
“Women find it difficult to access loans and it is sad, let’s give women the chance they can do it, most times people think women are weak and that comments are not true do you know how strong we are?” She told Ahma Baidoo.
Madam Donkor advised the youth to enter into the agriculture sector and their lives will change because she is a testimony of that.
