The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Ussif Mustapha, has expressed the government’s strong commitment to supporting national teams and ensuring their participation in international tournaments.
Mustapha also highlighted that investments are being made to help the national team qualify for these tournaments.
“We are very committed to our national teams and putting a lot of investment in allowing the national teams to participate in qualification to international tournaments” he stated.
He lamented and acknowledged that while the teams often qualify, their performance does not meet expectations, hindering their progress in the tournaments.
”Nevertheless, the government remains dedicated to supporting the teams and providing them with opportunities to represent the country internationally”.
Additionally, Mustapha mentioned that efforts are being made to focus on sports development, with a particular emphasis on football where they have their strengths, by allocating resources accordingly.
