(AUDIO): DEAL WITH COMPANIES WHO USE INFERIOR MATERIALS TO MANUFACTURE CEMENT – YILO KROBO MCE CHARGES NATIONAL SECURITY MINISTRY

The Municipal Chief Executive for Yilo Krobo Eric Tetteh has expressed worry over some cement manufacturing companies using inferior materials in the manufacture of the product.
Cement is a binder, a chemical substance used for construction that sets, hardens, and adheres to other materials to bind them together. Cement is seldom used on its own, but rather to bind sand and gravel (aggregate) together. Cement mixed with fine aggregate produces mortar for masonry, or with sand and gravel, produces concrete. Concrete is the most widely used material in existence and is behind only water as the planet’s most-consumed resource.
Types of cement used in construction are usually inorganic, often lime or calcium silicate based, which can be characterized as hydraulic or the less common non-hydraulic, depending on the ability of the cement to set in the presence of water
The MCE argued that one of the reasons for the collapsed building is due to failure to use limestone to manufacture cement by some manufacturing companies.
Speaking to journalists, Eric Tetteh called on the National Security Ministry to be on the lookout for companies that do not use the right materials to manufacture cement.
