The new Juaben south municipal assembly together with some authorities in the municipality have threatened to embark on demolishing exercise to clear unauthorised structures springing up and evacuate street sellers on the shoulders of major roads in koforidua, the eastern regional capital
The exercise will also target recalcitrant drivers with their vehicles be impounded
This was revealed by the chief executive officer of the new Juaben south municipal assembly, Hon Isaac Apaw Gyasi at a press series to engage the media ahead of a decongestion exercise slated to kick start on today march 9, 2022
The exercise will be led by the MCE in collaboration with the assembly task force, the Ghana police service and other relevant agencies to drive the traders away from the pavement
The MCE charged politicians not to disrupt the demolishing exercise planned by the assembly to evacuate traders and unauthorised structures on the road side.
He indicated that the Eastern regional minister, hon Seth Acheampong and the Member of Parliament for new Juaben south, hon Michael Okyere Baafi are in support of this exercise
He said the four months given to the traders to evacuate themselves is enough and the assembly is trying their best to get them a better market to trade hence they should leave peacefully.
