13 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR POLLUTING BIRIM RIVER WITH GALAMSEY (audio)

Thirteen (13) people have been arrested by the Ghana Small Scale Miners Association Taskforce for mining and polluting the Birim River in the Eastern Region.

The latest arrest comes less than 2 days after Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources had a special operation to arrest some foreign national who had diverted the Pra River in the Eastern and Ashanti Regions in other to engage in galamsey.

Commanding officer of the Ghana Small Scale Miners Task Force Patrick Don-Tsebe spoke to the media that some 100 chanphains has been destroyed.
