District Chief Executive of Gomoa Central, Benjamin Kojo Otoo has urged residents to engage the services of trained persons to help clean their wells if need be.
This comes after a fire service officer lost his life while rescuing 3 persons who had drowned after they tried cleaning their well.
The late Joseph Aidoo who was with the Agona Swedru Fire Service in the Central Region drowned in an attempt to rescue three persons who fell inside the well while working at Gomoa Obuasi in the Central Region.
The officer tried to save them, but got drowned in the process after he prompted community members for assistance.
The three persons were later removed from the well and are receiving treatment at the Agona Swedru Hospital.
Mr Otoo advised that persons who intends to clean their wells at home to seek the assistance from the Environmental Health Department of the Assembly to avert such accidents.
