Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau will be unveiled as new AlAhly player before the end of this week, joining from premierleague side Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ahotor Sports understands that Tau agreed a two-year deal with an option of a third to finalise his move to the record ten-time African Champions although many South Africans are not happy he is leaving the English league.
Brighton initially asked for €4-million but Ahly stood firm in negotiations with Director of Contracts Amr Tawfik finalising the move with Brighton’s Dean Ashworth on Wednesday.
The deal is rumoured to be about $2.1 million while Tau will earn around US$1. 2 million annually in salaries.
Despite not having nearly enough playtime with Brighton, Tau was included in Broos’ squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Following his squad announcement, Broos admitted that he was worried about Percy’s situation as he’s not having enough time on the pitch which could be an issue for the forward.
The 27 year old is now set to join his former coach and South African Pitso Mosimane having worked together at Mamelodi Sundowns.
