Suhum Senior High and Technical School (SUTESCO) clocks 82.23% success in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The Headmistress of Suhum Senior High and Technical School (SUTESCO) Elizabeth Agyakwa has disclosed that, the school which was known over the years by its success is regaining its glory which was the envy of the region since its inception in 1963.

SUTESCO was the obvious choice of many parents and students over the years churning out great personalities and stalwarts in the academic, business and all spheres of life.

It is therefore not surprising to find its old students knowns as ABENFO leading the pack as touch bearers.

According to Madam Agyakwa, years of abandonment and lack of resources impacted on the great name of the school.

However, with the dint of hard work by the Suhum Old Student Association (SOSA), the school management, the committed tutors and the students, the school is regaining its luster.

It is therefore not surprising that, SUTESCO recorded 82.23% success in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In an interview at the swearing in of new officers of SOSA, Madam Agyakwa was grateful to the various committees of the school for their renewed commitment to ensure that the name of the school is listed among the best.

Madam Agyakwa together with the PTA and the Old Students Association (SOSA) have laid out numerous measures to enhance teaching and learning.

She revealed that the overall percentage of students who had A1-C6 moved up from 30% in 2019 to 82.23% in 2020 which is a huge success for the school in recent years.

“2019 we had only 30% of our students making aggregate A1 – C6 but happy to say in 2020, 82.23% of our students scored A1 – C6 meaning they have made it to the University which is far better than the previous year” she said.

She attributed the success to the good measures the school had in place and with the cooperation of parents.

“We did a lot of work for this success and cooperation of the Parents Teacher Association really helped us” Madam Elizabeth Agyakwa said

She gave assurance to patrons and especially parents of the school that they are not resting till they reach 100% in the

WASSCE.

Newly elected President of the Suhum old Students Association (SOSA) Benjamin Nii Koi Dzanie commenting on the success used the opportunity to seek help from government to equip the school’s science laboratory to help the school gain a grade A status on the country’s academic performance ladder.
