NDC Performance in the 2020 polls was excellent; they should be proud of themselves – Babs

The Director of Operations for Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH), Ibrahim Adams Mumuni, has showered praises on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their flag bearer for their performance in the 2020 polls.

Babs, as he is popularly called, believes that for the party to get more than six million votes and a split parliamentary representation clearly indicates how effective the leadership is and how their efforts ultimately resulted in the numbers they had in the election.

On Ahotor FM’s evening political show called Asem Yi Di Ka, Mr Mumuni said,

“NDC had about two million extra votes compared to their 2016 performance and if there is anything to go by then this is clearly their best performance ever in any organized election in the country.”

Last week, the leadership of the NDC held a three day retreat in Ho to assess the party’s performance in the 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential elections and start reorganising towards the 2024 general election.

While the top echelons of the party were present in Ho, a section of their members held a different  forum dubbed ‘Securing NDC’s Future’ in Tema where  leading members like former Interior Minister Dr Benjamin Kumbuor and Dr Dan Abodakpi were present.

This move to organise a forum different from the one by the party’s Functional Executives and Council of Elders has raised lots of concerns among party faithfuls and to Ibrahim, the forum organised in Tema was needless.

“The NDC party and their executives met in Ho to think about the way forward and then some people also decided to meet in Tema in the name of NDC. I think it was very needless and improper,” he concluded.

ADAM-GH is a civil society organization that anchors Democratic principles, fights corruption, fights to  ensure there is peace and security for all and  advocates the Rule of Law.
