The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has decided to cancel the 2019/2020 football season in Sudan without declaring a champion. No clubs have also been relegated.
Sudan is the latest country to cancel its football league due to the novel corona virus pandemic.
In view of the cancellation, there will be no representation in the CAF Champions League but Al Rabita FC will play in the CAF Confederation Cup since they won the South Sudan FA Cup.
A statement on their Facebook page reads: “In its emergency meeting today (Wednesday), the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) Board of Directors has decided to cancel the South Sudan Premier League 2020 season “
“The revoking of the season will remain until further notice and further orders are received from the government concerning the Covid-19 menace.”
The statement concludes that all local leagues in all football federations across the country have been cancelled with no relegation or promotion of any team from different levels of the league “
South Sudan joins other African countries like Kenya, Gambia and Uganda in cancelling its league with the likes due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
