The Fédération Congolaise de Football Association (FECOFA) has declared Tout Puissant Mazembe aka TP Mazembe champions for the 2019/2020 football season in the Democratic Republic of Congo amid the corona virus crisis.
TP Mazembe were declared champions with ten games in hand and a five point lead.
The defending champions and 17 times league winners in DR Congo defended the title after winning it in the 2018-2019 football season.
TP Mazembe will also represent the DR Congoin the 2020-2021 Confederation of African Football Champions League competition (CAFCL). They have won the CAF Champions League five times but have failed to win the championship since 2015.
DR Congo reported its first case of corona virus on 10 March 2020 in Kinshasa. The number of cases has reached over six hundred since then.
Football in DR Congo has suffered setbacks since 2018 when the deadly Ebola virus struck there and other countries in the region.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on its part is set to decide on June 30 when the executive committee will meet to review the ban on sporting activities in the country.
