Highlife musician, Ofori Amponsah has revealed Veteran highlife musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba inspired him to write and produce music.
Known for many hit songs in the music industry, Ofori Amponsah indicated that Daddy Lumba prepared him for the limelight.
According to ‘Mr All 4 Real’, he was scared to present his song to Lumba after he had recorded his first single that he believed would usher him into the public eye.
But he disclosed that he was motivated by a faceless man to submit a copy of his cassette recording which fortunately landed him in the studios with the ‘Aben Wo Ha’ hitmaker.
He further cited an instance where upon reaching Daddy Lumba’s house, he realized lots of underground musicians had queued up but he was chosen at ease due to his distinctive voice.
“I played my song to a guy at Lapaz and he told me I am a very great artiste as such I should send my song to Daddy Lumba to listen and push me. When I got there, one guy was furiously dissing Lumba for not listening to his album so I was scared to enter his house.
“I did submit the single and he invited me later amidst all the people who were waiting on him…” he recalled.
The Otoolege hitmaker added that: “When I entered his room, he gave me an envelope with some cash and told me I am a star. My music and voice he said were unique…,” he disclosed.
“Daddy Lumba taught me a lot…you use the bricks that people are throwing at you to build a house…,” Ofori Amponsah added.
