MATCH REPORT: ASANTE KOTOKO SUFFER FIRST HOME LOSS OF THE SEASON

Asante Kotoko suffered a 1-0 loss at home for the first time in the 2024/2025 Ghana premier League season. Coach Bashir Hayford’s Heart of Lions were poised for a win from the start.

Kwadwo Obeng Jnr fired in the opener in the 24th minute. The former Hearts of Oak striker directed the ball into a yawning net after goalkeeper Mohammed Camara was in no man’s land. The home side pressed for the equalizer but Rueben Henessey and Ebenezer Abban nullified any possible threat from Kotoko’s forward line.

Back from recess, Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum subbed on Fernando Bassey and Peter Amidu Aquah. Experienced Abednego Tetteh was introduced in the second for the away side. With his huge physique, the former Hearts of Oak striker did a great job in closing up spaces between center backs Samba Oneil and Justice Blay. The away side held on to record a crucial win over Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko have now lost two times on the bounce for the first time this season. Heart of Lions Kwadwo Obeng Jnr was adjuged as the MVP of the match.
