During a speech in Nanton on his Northern Regional tour, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, drew a sharp contrast between his party and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
John Mahama emphasized that the NDC, unlike the NPP, focuses on projects and policies that benefit all Ghanaians, rather than just focusing on winning votes.
Mr. Mahama argued that while some may think the two major political parties are alike, they couldn’t be more different.
According to him, “When the NPP comes into office, they don’t invest in development or infrastructure. Instead, they wait until election time, and then they distribute money to win votes.
The NDC, however, is committed to making lasting investments that uplift everyone in the country.”
Continuing, John Mahama pointed to the challenges many Ghanaians are facing under the current administration, highlighting the rising cost of living.
“The NPP has made life incredibly hard for ordinary Ghanaians. Prices of goods and services have soared, causing untold hardship across the country,” he noted.
John Mahama criticized the NPP’s governance, attributing much of the country’s economic struggles to a lack of meaningful investment and development under their leadership.
Reflecting on the achievements of past NDC administrations, Mr. Mahama said, “The NDC has a proven track record. When we were in power, we worked to achieve 100% electricity coverage in places like the Sagnarigu constituency. Give us your vote, and we will continue these efforts to help the country develop and create a better future for all.”
John Mahama closed by assuring the crowd that, if given the chance to govern again, the NDC would prioritize the needs of the people and build on the progress made in previous years, aiming to reverse the setbacks of the last eight years under the NPP administration.
