The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to establish a technical and vocational training school in the Tolon District of the Northern Region if elected.
He emphasized that while university education is not suited for every child, many young people have valuable skills that could be honed through hands-on training.
“Not every child is meant to attend university or college. Some are gifted with skills that only need an opportunity to thrive,” Mr. Mahama stated.
“We will open a technical and vocational school in Tolon District, where youth can gain certifications, build their skills, and use them to create their own jobs or enter sectors like security services.”
Addressing a gathering in Kasuliyili in Tolon as part of his tour in the Northern Region, John Mahama also voiced concerns about the neglected state of the Kasuliyili Senior High School.
He reminded the crowd that the NDC initiated the school’s development, intending to expand its infrastructure, but claimed that in eight years, the NPP has done nothing to improve it.
“The NDC started Kasuliyili Senior High School, aiming to make it a leading institution in the region. Yet, in eight years, the NPP has added nothing to it,” he said.
John Mahama promised that an NDC administration would prioritize upgrading the school to make it a model senior high school for the Northern Region.
He concluded by challenging the NPP’s record in Tolon, asserting that they have failed to make meaningful contributions to the district over their eight years in power.
