The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, expressed strong confidence that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by John Dramani Mahama, will secure victory in a free, fair, and credible election.
He credited his confidence to John Mahama’s track record but emphasized that this outcome relies on the Electoral Commission’s commitment to transparency.
Speaking to supporters during John Mahama’s visit to the Tamale South Constituency as part of his Northern Regional tour, Haruna Iddrisu highlighted the NDC’s demand for transparency measures, specifically requesting serial numbers for each ballot paper allocated to the constituency.
“In the name of transparency, we are asking for the serial numbers of every ballot paper printed for each region, district, and constituency,” he stated.
Hon. Iddrisu also called for clear information on the quantity of ballot papers allocated to Tamale South. This, he argued, would enable the NDC to monitor the distribution and uncover any irregularities.
“We want to know where our serial numbers start and end, so we can track them across regions. If we find any ballot paper meant for the Northern Region in Ashanti or Eastern, we will expose any fraudulent intentions,” he said.
Emphasizing the NDC’s belief in John Mahama’s chances, Hon. Iddrisu reiterated, “We are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that John Dramani Mahama will win in a free, fair, and credible election.”
He also sent a caution to Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensah, urging her not to allow any influence from the ruling NPP government that could compromise the integrity of the elections.
