Politics is first and foremost about service to – and development for – the people. The moment these elements are out, politics becomes a looter’s brigade for some selfish people. You can not get tired of the people and still stay in politics.
The National Democratic Congress is a Social Democratic Party with an egalitarian belief of equality. That makes us different from the others.
Comrades, the work ahead of us does not need any particular position, title, or office for you to fit in. There are enough assignments for everyone.
I have heard a few unfortunate comments like “we have done our own in the constituency oo, let the young ones also do their own;” “me, I am above the Branch and Constituency, I am now with the Region and National;” or sometimes some people say, “me, I do my everything through the Flagbearer’s office.”
I can’t begrudge such people, but at least I have heard the Flagbearer say on countless times that people should go and work at their Constituencies and Branches.
Sometimes, I feel like throwing up when I see some people disrespecting Party Executives at the Branches and Constituencies and all just because they are close to some people in high places. Let’s be careful because no tree has ever become a crocodile because it has been in the river for long.
In my very short political life, I have seen very, very big people complain of neglect, being abandoned because they no longer wield the power they used to. This proves that power is indeed transient. Let’s have the humility to work with everybody
Those of us with power today should always remember that power is from the people.
Those who are blessed financially shouldn’t neglect their Branches and Constituencies. I have travelled and engaged people enough to tell how a single T-shirt or flag or scarf or some fuel, amongst others, can go a long way to help them.
Let’s not leave all the pressure on the heads of our MPs and PCs. I know some of them came in as if they wielded financial muscles bigger than Bill Gates. The reality is that every constituency needs help. No amount is too small or too big. This year’s elections will be won by the efforts of our constituencies and Branches.
Let’s put the past behind us and get together to win the 2024 presidential election and also win with a huge majority in parliament. So far, many constituencies are turning green, and we need to keep that momentum. Let’s keep hope alive !!! There are better days ahead.
