Ghana loses 1-0 to Cameroon in Women’s AFCON semi-finals

Ghana’s Black Queens were beaten 1-0 by the Lionesses of Cameroon in the first semi final of the African Women’s Cup of Nations on Tuesday.

The Queens were seeking a place in the final of the tournament but they were up against the hosts who had won all three group matches.

Cameroon started on the front foot and they sought to find the breakthough but Ghana’s defence stood firm and managed to hold their opponents to a stale first half.

The second half followed the same script but Ghana tried to play on the break a bit more often.

However, the hosts found the winning goal in the 71st minute.

A corner was fumbled by Ghana goalie Nana Ama Asantewaa but failure to get the ball away by the defence allowed Raissa Feudjio to send the ball into the back of the net.

Ghana will play the loser of the second semi final between Nigeria and South Africa which will be played at 6pm on Tuesday.
