Member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra region, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye insists President Akufo Addo’s ministerial changes were “not for the function of government, but for political reasons”.
He indicated that, some of the appointees are parliamentary candidates and such will give them a bit of a leverage in the contest they’re going into.
According to him, the President also may be trying to aid Members of Parliament from his party who are facing tough competition ahead of the 2024 polls.
Speaking on Big Issues, the legislature said Nana Addo is previewed to national security reports and others therefore, he knows what is going on in the various constituencies of the country.
Most of the ministers has no value as their influence on grounds is gone therefore, why will he keep them there since he knows they’re of no use anymore, he added.
He used former sanitation and water resources minister who lost her parliamentary primaries Hon Freda Akosua Prempeh as an example saying if the president meant of what he did, why would they remove Freda because she was just appointed recently.
