Youth Resource Centre: Minister inspects facilities in Eastern and Volta Regions

The Youth and Sports minister, Mustapha Usif was accompanied by the CEO of the National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide to tour the Volta and Eastern Regional Youth Resource Centres in Ho and Koforidua respectively, to observe the progress of work of two of the ten multi-purpose sports facilities being constructed across the country.

The Volta and Eastern Regional facilities are part of six out of the ten contracts that have been awarded for Phase 2 of the construction, which are progressing well.  The other 4 are Wa, Axim, Dormaa Ahenkro, and Dunkwa-On-Offin.

I was impressed by the extent of the work, and I urged the contractors to ensure they complete the work on schedule.

Phase 2 of the remaining 4 facilities at Accra, Nyinahin, Navrongo, and Yendi, will also start very soon after the completion of the 6.

The government of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has invested an unprecedented amount in the renovation and construction of sports facilities across the country and is more than determined to complete these nationwide facilities it started.

The ongoing renovation of our national stadia, the construction of over 120 artificial turfs nationwide, and the commitment of about $195m towards the construction of facilities at the University of Ghana and Borteyman for the African Games, clearly underline the unwavering commitment of this Government towards the development of sports infrastructure.
