Kosta Papic calls contract brouhaha on airwaves unacceptable, urges fans to rally behind the team
Hearts of Oak head coach Kostadin Papic has voiced out over his displeasure on his contract issues making headlines in the airwaves brandishing it as rubbish.
The Serbian tactician claims it will be very unprofessional and unacceptable to discuss his contract details publicly and says contracts between two parties are always private and cant be disclosed to a third party so sees no reason to do that.
The duration of the contract and the financial package involved has been discussed a lot by fans of the Oak tree with some alerging the ex Enyimba FC and Orlando Pirates gaffer is taking huge sums that will drag the club into bankruptcy sooner or later.
But for Papic, who is spending his second stint with the club claims otherwise saying he would have taken a job in china had money being his motivation.
“I signed a 2-year contract with HeartsOfOakGH and what is in the contract is between me and the club. Ghanaian clubs don’t have money and we are not talking about money. I would have been in China if I needed a lot of money. I am Hearts Coach and will remain with Hearts”
The sixty year old is optimistic the club can win the domestic league this season and believes his players are solidly behind him. The Phobians have not won the league for more than a decade and has left fans so worried and dont know when the curse will be broken.
“In the meantime, we must fight matches we can to win the league. If I don’t win the league, for me that is not the satisfaction. I want to win the @GhanaLeague. That is the end of the story and the players understand my ambition. – Kosta Papic”
The Championship of African Nations (CHAN) started this month in Cameroon and Ghana was conspicuously missing after the local Black Stars failed to qualify for the event to the surprise of the Serbian.
“I’m very surprised Ghana did not qualify for the CHAN competition. For me, that is very strange. I believe Ghana has quality players to play in that competition”
Kostadin Papic has lots of experience in African football having managed some great clubs in Tanzania, South Africa and Nigeria.
