The minority in parliament in a press conference organised by the Commission Bureau of the NDC has referred to the infamous Agyapa Minerals Royalties deal as fraudulent and scandalous.
Reacting to questions by the media during the questions session at the party’s headquarters ealier today, the minority spokesperson on finance, Hon Kingsley Atoh Forson described the deal as fraudulent and shady. He branded the deal as “agyabone” deal considering the level of opacity and the involvement of family members of the president.
Hon. Ato Forson ridiculed what appeared to be a justification by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Attah on why Special Purpose Vehicle Agyapa Royalties was register in beilick of jersey, a tax haven in the UK instead of mainland United Kingdom.
The honourable member made reference to tax arrangements the Ghanaian government have with the the UK government which making it impossible for the company to suffer double tax ordeal in mainland UK as indicated by some government functionaries.
Addressing the press, the minority leader of Parliament Hon Haruna Iddrisu retreited an ealier call made by the Flagbearer of the NDC Mr John Mahama that the next NDC administration will not respect the terms and conditions of the deal.
The minority leader repeated that the next NDC administration will not honour the deal and the party will go ahead to red issue notice to investors on both London and Ghana Stock markets to be aware that the next NDC administration will not honour the deal.
