A member of the National Democratic Congress NDC Covid-19 Technical Team, Dr Prosper Akambong says says the poor implementation of the Covid-19 preventive etiquette by authorities is responsible for the continues spiking cases of the cases.
Since March 12 this year, over 4,500 cases of the novel corona virus have been recorded in Ghana despite ongoing public education.
Speaking on Ahotor Kaseibo on Ahotor 92.3 FM, Dr Akambong who is a former CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital says said a carefully structured method is required to enhance compliance levels.
He indicated that when one is going to an environment that you will have contact with people, it must be mandatory that the necessary protocols are observed and there must be checks to ensure that.

However, he said, “When you go to Makola, Kantamato or some of the markets, you see what is the situation is there.” He concluded that it is for those reasons that we must restructure these places so that we have restricted numbers of people who come to the market on a shift system with specific days for people to come to market.
He also stressed the need to maintain a certain level of social distancing. He advised that people should not intentionally violate the safety and social distancing protocol otherwise government should deal with the offenders.
Dr Akambong is a member of the thirteen member Covid-19 Technical Response team established by the NDC in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
