Mr. Adams Bonaa, an International Relations and Security Expert has said, the dispute currently in Nantom can be resolved when not attributed to or separated from politics. This is as a result of the newly nominated Andani as the chief of Nantom in the Northern Region by the overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari Mahama II.
The people of Nantom has vowed not to accept the candidate,Ya Naa Mahammadu Baba Bawa as their Nantom Naa.
In an interview with Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM’s flagship morning show, “Adekyee Mu Nsem, Mr. Bonaa said though no security has be deployed to the area at the moment, he believes the District Security Council is dealing with the with the security aspect and that there is no cause for alarm in Dagbon. “They are handling the situation hoping that there wouldn’t be any catastrophic event coming from the place other than what has been encountered already”
He further stated that, anyone who is well abreast with the traditions of the people of Dagbon knows that, they are biological relations but political interference has made both parties take entrenched position.
However, he is of the view that “The issue in Dagbon is a part of the road map of the eminent chiefs which has Otumfour Osei Tutu II as their head” and is to consulted before the nomination of the Vo Naa as the chief.
It would be recalled that, residents of Nanton mounted road blocks , wielding offensive weapons to signal their readiness to fight for what they believe to be their rights. The people vowed to resist any attempts to impose the Ya-Na’s candidate, Vo Naa Muhammadu on them as the Nanton Naa.
