Black Queens through to the finals after beating Nigeria on penalties
Black Queens have advanced to the final of the inaugural WAFU Zone B Women’s Nations Cup after beating Nigeria 5-4 on penalties.
The Falcons after an impressive start opened the scoring as early as the 8th minute through Alice Ogebe.
The Queens responded ten minutes later to draw level courtesy of Faustina Ampah’s 18th minute.
With the match tied at 1-1, the lottery of penalties determined who booked a place in the finals.
Ghana’s goalkeeper Patricia Mantey emerged the hero on the day as she saved two spot-kicks to help her team advance.
Ghana will face hosts Ivory Coast in the final in a repeat of the tournament opener.
