Upper East Regional Bar Applauds Chief Justice’s Decision to Close Bawku Courts.

The Upper East Regional Bar Association has expressed strong support for the Chief Justice’s decision to temporarily close courts in Bawku and nearby communities, citing the safety and well-being of judicial staff as a top priority.

The closure, implemented amidst rising tensions and security concerns in the area, is seen as a necessary step to protect those serving in the judiciary and ensure they can carry out their duties without fear.

Upper East Regional President of the Ghana Bar Association, Amuck Afful, praised the Chief Justice for taking swift action to safeguard court personnel.

Mr. Afful also called on the government and local security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability in Bawku, noting that only under safe conditions can the courts operate effectively and justice be served to all.

The Ghana Bar Association, he said, remains committed to supporting the judiciary and advocating for policies that ensure security measures are in place to protect both legal professionals and citizens.

The Regional Bar hopes the Chief Justice’s actions will encourage additional security interventions and long-term solutions to restore peace, allowing judicial services to resume and meet the needs of the community.
