Former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, has called on Ghanaians to make regular health screenings a priority to facilitate early detection and treatment of diseases.
Her appeal came during a recent event at the Tishingu Health Center in the Tamale North constituency, where she donated essential medical equipment and supplies.
Addressing the community, Mrs. Mahama highlighted the importance of proactive healthcare, emphasizing that diseases like breast cancer often go undetected until it’s too late. “Breast cancer affects countless lives, but with regular screenings and early detection, we can significantly improve survival rates and outcomes for those diagnosed,” she noted.
Mrs. Mahama also urged the public to break any stigma surrounding health checks and seek timely medical advice, especially for conditions that benefit from early intervention.
Her donation to the health center, which included specialized screening equipment, is intended to strengthen local healthcare services and improve accessibility to essential health screenings for people in the Tamale North constituency.
