Former First Lady Lordina Mahama has emphasized the need for better access to healthcare services, particularly in rural communities across Ghana.
Addressing a health durbar on breast cancer awareness and general health screening at the Tishigu Health Centre in Tamale North, Mrs. Mahama underscored the critical role of regular check-ups and early detection in fighting breast cancer and other health issues.
As the President and Founder of the Lordina Foundation, Mrs. Mahama encouraged community members to take advantage of the free health screenings and prioritize their well-being.
She praised the dedication of healthcare workers and urged attendees to actively engage in their own health journeys by asking questions and seeking necessary support.
To support the Tishigu Health Centre and further her foundation’s mission of strengthening healthcare infrastructure, Mrs. Mahama donated essential medical equipment, including hospital beds, delivery beds, medical gloves, syringes, and baby care supplies.
This donation aligns with the foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and quality in underserved areas.
Tamale North MP Alhassan Suhuyini expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Mahama and thanked local chiefs and residents for their support.
He highlighted the chief’s contribution of land for the health centre and acknowledged the MP’s Common Fund for assisting in completing the facility.
The event promoted health awareness, with a focus on breast cancer screening, preventive healthcare, and general health education.
It served to encourage proactive health measures and reinforce the need for accessible, quality medical services for all Ghanaians, particularly those in rural communities.
