A delegation composed of the Minister of Education, the leadership of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, and officials from the Ghana Education Service is expected to visit the areas affected by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam to assess its impact on education and make appropriate recommendations.
Individuals and institutions such as the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have been calling on the government to take swift measures to ensure that students in the affected communities do not miss out on their education.
According to Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, Member of Parliament for Akatsi North and the ranking member of the Education Committee in Parliament is of the view that the delegation is expected to find a solution to the issue immediately after the assessment.
The Akatsi North legislator told Ahotor news, that an emergency makeshift structure must be constructed to accommodate the affected students in the interim.
