Vote out failed leaders; don’t trade your vote for gari, rice and yam – Sonnie Badu

Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu has spoken out against the current government, labeling it a failure and urging citizens to think about the soaring cost of living as they prepare to vote on December 7.

In an interview, Badu advised voters not to be lured by gifts from politicians on election day. He emphasized the importance of not allowing short-term offers like gari, rice, and yam to undermine the value of their votes. “The time to exercise your power is now,” he remarked, pointing out that politicians often only show up in towns and villages to connect with the people when they want their support. Once in power, many do not return.

Badu encouraged Ghanaians to vote out leaders who have failed to enhance the nation’s economic situation. “If you are satisfied, vote. If you are not happy, vote. Think about your circumstances and choose wisely. Remove leaders who did not contribute positively when they were in office. I’m sharing my beliefs.”

Renowned for his popular hits such as “Baba,” “My Soul Says Yes,” and “Still You Reign,” Badu is also the founder of the Rock Hill Church. His statements resonate with many Ghanaians frustrated by ongoing economic issues as they head into elections.

His call for informed voting and caution against being bribed with temporary incentives serves as an important reminder of the impact of thoughtful participation in shaping the future of the nation.
